Today we slept in a bit....til 7.30 😉 We packed up and headed to Nara. We stuffed up the train schedule so it took us a few transfers and a bit longer but we got there in the end. I absolutely cannot comprehend how anyone could do a trip like this without Google maps! When we arrived we stored our suitcases at the info centre and walked (more uphill 😂) to the Nara park. The park is one of the oldest in Japan and dates back to the 1300's. There was a big shrine up there and a lot of smaller ones whose names I cannot remember, but they were very beautiful, so green and mossy 😍 There is so much history here, it is hard to explain to the boys some of the places we have been to are older than Australia's settlement! Thoughout the park and shrines were lots of wild sika deer. We bought deer crackers from several vendors and walked around feeding them. Most of the deer have been trained to bow to request food, its so cute and Charlie loved it and giggled so much! Once the deer knew you had food they followed you until it was gone, it was pretty funny watching the boys run in circles being chased by deer 😂 We had a late lunch at maccas for the boys treat, and Steve and I had a teriyaki burger, they were awesome, wish we had those back home. We then picked up our bags and caught the train to Osaka. We checked into a Hello Kitty apartment, it is so cute, the boys think it's pretty funny 😄 The apartment is directly opposite from Dontonbori so we ventured out tonight and checked out the neon craziness, it was awesome! It's kinda like Shinjuku but it's on the canal which makes it very pretty. The most famous advert is Glico Man which is the brand of candy from the 1930's. We walked up both sides of the canal along with thousands of other tourists. We went on a ferris wheel that went up 77 metres and took 15 minutes to complete the circuit. It had spectacular views of the city, it was a bit scary actually 😉 We sampled lots of foods and looked at lots of weird things in shops. We also found clear coke and 6 new flavours of kit kats, mint, cookies & cream, rum & raisin, sweet potato, strawberry sundae and cranberry almond 😋 We finally crawled into bed at 10.30.
