It was a big travel day today, 2 bullet trains and 1 scenic train, 5 hrs in total, to Takayama. The scenery was a lot of rice fields and then beautiful mountains as we neared Takayama. The boys were a bit restless towards the end and it was hard to keep them quiet 😉 We bought sushi and other snacks at each of the stations, it is not hard to find food here, there are 7/11s and family marts everywhere and the food they have is so fresh and so much variety. And there are also vending machines EVERYWHERE! It's amazing, electricity must be cheap here! We checked into the Sora Ama Hostel and went exploring. The old part of town is so beautiful and full of food vendors and little shops. We tasted all we could and enjoyed the atmosphere. Most things closed around 5 so we wandered back to the hotel and picked up dinner from 7/11 on the way. The hostel is really good. So far we are the only people on the 4th floor. We have a traditional Japanese room and the boys made their own futon beds 😊
